This Privacy Policy describes how LyricLingo collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (“App”) and related services. By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use LyricLingo, we may process the following categories of information:

• Account and authentication. If you sign in with email, our authentication provider (Supabase) processes your email address to send one-time login codes. We may store a stable user identifier linked to your account on our servers. If you use the App without email sign-in, we may assign a unique device or app identifier to maintain your session and sync your data.
• Profile and preferences. Information you provide or we infer for the learning experience, such as language preferences, music genre preferences, and similar settings stored with your account.
• Learning content you create or save. Song titles, artists, lyrics text, links to videos (for example YouTube URLs), vocabulary words you save, translations, practice progress (such as mastery or test scores), and metadata associated with your collection.
• Device and technical data. Operating system type (for example iOS or Android), app version, and similar technical data needed to run and secure the service. If you enable push notifications in the future, we may store a device token to deliver them.
• Search and lookup activity. When you search for songs or request lyrics or translations, queries and related metadata are sent through our systems and, where applicable, to third-party APIs described below.

2. How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the App (authentication, syncing your library and vocabulary, tests, and related features).
• Improve reliability, security, and performance of our services.
• Communicate with you about the service when necessary (for example, account or security notices).
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-party services

LyricLingo relies on service providers and APIs. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies. These may include:

• Supabase — authentication (including email one-time codes) and related session data. See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
• Our application servers (backend API) — storage and processing of your account, songs, words, and test results as described in this policy.
• Lyrics providers — for example, services accessed via RapidAPI / Genius or similar partners to retrieve song lyrics when you request them.
• Google (YouTube Data API) — video search, metadata, and thumbnails when you use YouTube-related features. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Translation services — for example Google Cloud Translation or other providers when you request word or phrase translations, depending on App configuration.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

Where required by law, we rely on appropriate bases such as: performance of a contract (providing the App), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, consistent with your expectations), and consent where we ask for it explicitly.

5. Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it in line with our technical and organizational practices.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your request before responding.

8. Children

LyricLingo is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

9. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, where permitted by law.
